A. In the last half of the 18th century, migrants from the Creek ( North American Indian tribe ) towns of southern Georgia moved into northern Florida ( the Seminoles split off from the Creek in the later 18th century and settled in northern Florida, where they were joined by runaway slaves, Indian and black, from Georgia.), the former territory of the Apalachee and Timucua. By about 1775 these migrants had begun to be known under the name Seminole, probably derived from the Creek word simano-li. Their language belongs to the Muskogean language stock. The name Seminole (a term used in placenames of both Florida and Oklahoma ) is from semvnole /simano:li/ untamed referring to Indians who broke away from the main body of the Creek in the… [cont.]

A. you are hitting right into the time frame that the Dawes rolls were taken, and those who are listed are those who were tribal members through ancestry ..and were expected to offer proof. I also had pre state Okla family from Texas, who definitely moved there NOT AS Native American. So, no...living there did not qualify someone for tribal enrollment. That is not to say that the father or mother did NOT have Native ancestry in your case. Non Indian families living in the territory what is now Okla were sometimes indicated as "intruders"... which, by the way, was not indication that they were there without consent. Just that they were not Native Americans.

What do you expect from this season of College Football?
Q. To me, it seems like the gap between the so called "haves and have-nots" is becoming smaller. Each conference is becoming more competitive. The voters are wising up to the potential BCS Busters and not putting them in a BCS Bowl before the season starts (ie. Hawaii 2 years ago), which I like. They should have to prove themselves just like every other team, for example, how BYU scheduled Oklahoma. I'm still on the fence about Miami and Florida State being back. Yes they played a great game in week one, but they haven't convinced me that they are back, in typical FSU and Miami tradition. These used to be the benchmark teams in College Football. Miami will tell us a lot about itself in the next 2 weeks, with Virginia Tech followed by… [cont.]

What would the BCS do if Missouri....?
Q. Ok so lets say that the following scenario occured: Oklahoma pulls off an impressive win against Oklahoma St., and they get to go to the big 12 championship game with Mizzou. However, Mizzou pulls off the upset of the century!! So now we'd have another set of 3 teams (oklahoma, ok. st., and mizzou) that would all be 1-1 against one another. Wouldn't this throw the BCS into complete and total chaos? Where would oklahoma's future lie? Who would go to the national championship game as the big 12 rep (cause clearly it will be an SEC vs. big 12 game)? After all, you'd think texas would go, but then u got texas tech that beat them... so would they pop back into the championship picture? And what about Missouri themselves? might they get a chance? A. If games go as expected this weekend the top 5 in the BSC should look like this. 1. Alabama 2. Oklahoma 3. Texas 4. Florida 5. USC Now lets say Missouri upsets Oklahoma and Florida beats Alabama. Then the top 5 should look like this. 1. Texas 2. Florida 3. USC 4. Penn St 5. Utah That would mean Texas and Florida would be in the BCS Championship game. If Florida St beats Florida this weekend they will still go to the SEC Championship game. The Florida/Florida St game is not a conference game. If Florida is upset the top 5 would look like this going into next weeks games. 1. Alabama 2. Oklahoma 3. Texas 4. USC 5. Penn St Now lets say Florida beats Alabama. A. Illinois will win this game in a 56-28 blowout. Both teams defenses are really bad, but unlike Michigan, Illinois has an explosive offense to exploit Michigan's weak defense. Look for Juice Williams to pass for 500 plus yards on Michigan's weak secondary, as three Illini receivers exceed the 100 yard mark led by Arrelious Benn's 175 yards. And look for Daniel Dufrene to run roughshod on a Michigan run defense that's given up at least 70 yards toe very starting tailback they've faced. Dufrene had a TD run against Michigan last season. he may have 3 in this game Like Is aid, Illinois defense is weak, so Michiagn should score about 28 points. But thats not nearly enough to keep up with the offensive explosion that illinois will put on. Look… [cont.]
